We have re-patriated twice to our home in Canada and each time there is a huge sense of anti-climax. Everthing seems dirty, run down and much smaller than we remembered it. However it's important to know that it is just an adjustment process. Within a few months (we find it can take 3-6 months for us) we start to see the good things and feel at home again. I now know that Canada is where I want to be ultimately and that "re-entry" is just something I have to get through.

There are positives and negatives about all countries. I think some expats in the UAE tend to focus on the negatives (traffic, construction, etc) in order to protect themselves from liking the place too much. What do you think? One of the reasons I like your blog, Lulu, is that you write about both the good and bad sides of the place.

Welcome back!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13754951.post-1137833508383437782006-01-21T12:51:00.000+04:002006-01-21T12:51:00.000+04:00Dutch... not African..Dutch... not African..Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13754951.post-1137826564975170542006-01-21T10:56:00.000+04:002006-01-21T10:56:00.000+04:00Vive La Difference, and welcome to the UAEVive La Difference, and welcome to the UAEdon_vetohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02217869839648382601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13754951.post-1137485973607531432006-01-17T12:19:00.000+04:002006-01-17T12:19:00.000+04:00Welcome back!
